Trent Alexander-Arnold Reveals Desire to Spend Entire Career With Liverpool & Emulate Anfield Legend

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed it is his ‘dream’ to emulate Jamie Carragher and spend his whole career with the Reds, while he has also shown a level of maturity and motivation not normally expected from a player so young when talking about last season’s near miss in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

“To play for Liverpool is the dream, the aim, and I can’t see it changing to be fair,” the home grown Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports this week.

“As long as possible I want to have that relationship with Liverpool, to be a Liverpool player. To say I have done that for the whole of my career is something I have dreamed of being able to say.”

20-year-old Alexander-Arnold has made the right-back berth his own over the last 10 months or so. The only Champions League knockout game he missed last season was the return leg against Porto when Liverpool were 5-0 up on aggregate and he played in the final in Kyiv.

But while the player is incredibly proud of that achievement, he knows that simply reaching a final is ultimately not enough and is using the loss as motivation to secure success in the future.

“The words: Champions League final, it’s not Champions League winner, which brings that extra motivation,” Alexander-Arnold, who first joined Liverpool aged just six, explained.

“It’s something you’ve got to be proud of. It always still hurts when you think how close we got to winning something big, and you only got the silver medal.

“It’s something that is tough to take, but again you learn your lesson from it and you try to take things from the game. You try to use it to get better and that’s what we’ve tried to do this season, look back on what we did wrong and how we can be successful.

“It was tough to take, and you just want to get back into those games, into another final and to try and win it this time.”
